Here are some important points to consider before applying to be a volunteer ranch hand:

• Are you able to make a six-month commitment?

• Can you come once a week, on the same day each week?

• Are you able to drive out to Jomax and Scottsdale Roads once a week?

• Our summer volunteer openings are in the mornings, Monday through Friday, from around 7:30 to 11:30, are you available at those times?

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The volunteer Ranch Hand assists in maintaining a clean and safe ranch environment at a ranch where children and adults with disabilities receive therapeutic horsemanship training and outdoor education. Specific duties include: general stable maintenance such as stall cleaning, feeding and watering of livestock, some light grooming duties if appropriate, other light barn chores such as sweeping or cleaning tack and equipment. Demonstrates safe practices and compliance with barn rules at all times.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Dependability, punctuality, able to accept directions from supervisor, ability to communicate job concerns to supervisor in timely and appropriate manner. Good character, good health, ability to bend, reach and lift. Ability to safely use basic ranch tools. Love of the outdoors, appreciation for horses.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum age 18. No court referrals.

TIME REQUIRED
One or two mornings per week for 2 to 3 hours. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

TRAINING PROVIDED
Tour of the ranch facility and overview of the program. Orientation to the barn, horses, ranch tools and equipment. Volunteer manual will be provided.

LOCATION & SETTING
A 14.25 acre wheelchair friendly horse ranch with native desert vegetation and abundant wildlife located in the Pinnacle Peak area of North Scottsdale. A very serene setting with a very special feeling.
